Salsa: Warbird, Gravel Monster!

Purpose built for racing on gravel roads, this isn't your average road or cross bike.

With a resume including the Dirty Kanza 200, the 340 mile Trans Iowa, and the Almanzo 100, this machine is designed to go fast while maintaining comfort.

I've had mine since October and looking forward to putting some big miles on it this spring. I think I'm going to put my first big day on it Sunday at the Lu-Lacka_Wyco Hundo. And I'll be taking it back to the motherland for the Almanzo "Royal 162" in May.

Again, Enve comes along with a custom carbon disc fork for Salsa, Avid BB7's, Clement XPlor USH tires, and a Shimano drivetrain blend for a sturdy yet smooth ride. Msrp $2499.

Frostbike: Salsa 2014 Preview!

So, I have been lucky enough to be invited to Frostbike in Minnesota for several years now. QBP puts on this event every year to showcase their brands and new products and interact with their dealers in a more intimate setting than you typically find in Las Vegas at the Interbike trade show. There are seminars and product previews and lots of beer drinking. It is very cold and snowy here right now, but what is going on is HOT!
Salsa just unveiled their 2014 plans for a small group of dealers, after signing non-discloseur agreements, and I have to say that I am impressed. Every year refining what they have and pushing it even further.
They did allow us to leak these photos of their new FULL CARBON Beargrease! When I say full carbon, I mean frame and fork, with through axles front and rear. The complete build with SRAM XX1 is rumored to be 24 lbs, which for a fat bike is totally amazing.
We got to see this bike in person and it was unbelievable. Surely a sign of bigger and better things to keep coming from Salsa Cycles.
Enjoy these pics, don't drool on your computers too much.

Salsa Warbird!

Just received my Salsa Warbird frameset, shuffled some parts around from 3 of my other bikes to make this into something resembling a bike. Going to be getting out on it early tomorrow morning, more gravel grind recon for the Philly Bike Expo.
Hopefully more pics to come from the "road" test.

Salsa Fat Bike Full Squish Prototype!

So one of the great things about going to nerdy bike industry events is seeing new products and ideas. Just back from Frostbike in Minneapolis and got a chance to see this bad boy in person. Wow!

Salsa Selma, can you say upgrade?

So, I'm finally getting motivated for more offroad fun in my life. Been riding a Surly Karate Monkey for 6 years or so, and it has been a great bike for my infrequent adventures into the Forrest. I have decided this is the year I was ready to take the bull by the horns. I knew I was gonna need a squish fork to help my cause as my thumb is still a little sensitive after my incident last december.
Long story short, I have a new mountain bike. And my Monkey is going to a great new home, and will likely get some serious shredding.
Sunday is her maiden voyage, wish me luck!

Snowy Days At The Shop

Fortunately, all of the staff has been building themselves mountain bikes. So everybody has been making it into work, more or less on time.

Here we have Maghan and Gary looking handsome with their complimentary bikes.

Adam stopped by to thaw out for a bit while getting around on his cross bike. He will be officially joining the crew after a quick trip to UBI for some learnin'.

Just in case you weren't sure, this is what we call the employee benifits package.

Just some pics of snow covered bikes and broken stuff in the yard...

Snow seems to make it all seem a little more quiet and peaceful.

And the postman brought us a bundle of the newest Fast Pace Zine, come get some.

Quiet, snowy, icey, salty, days at the shop. Not for long, almost time to start demo and renovations on the new space!

Salsa Casseroll Custom Single Speed Townie

I have been wanting to customize the Salsa Casseroll single speed since we started carrying them. This winter with all of the snow we managed to make it happen. It is a nice simple build to begin with, allowing for some nice personal touches.

Some alloy touring bars for an upright comfy riding postion. Brooks B-17 was very necessary, Portland Design works leather grips and the Gamoh front rack, all add some fashionable and functional style.

Yes you can carry and open beer with the Gamoh rack!

Some nice Planet Bike fenders in brown with some skinwall Panaracer Pasela Tourguard tires.

This bike was originally selling for $890 stock, Salsa had dropped the price at the end of the year to $760. This custom version with all of the bells and whistles is $1065. This one is a 51cm, which in Salsa geometry fits like a 54cm (semi-compact geo.) but we do have a smaller one and a bigger one left that we could also customize just for you!
